Day 6: Build & Brighten
The Most Important Notes:
Always double cleanse. The first cleanse is essential for the visible dirt – makeup, sweat, oil. The second cleanse is for what’s unseen to the naked eye – buildup, photoreactivity, oxidative stress.
This is not medical advice or a substitute for medical visits. Please seek medical attention in case of an emergency. Consult with a medical professional before starting new activity, nutritional supplements or introducing new dietary restrictions.
Hormone levels are not the same for everyone and you should always seek a medical professional if you experience hormone levels, stress levels, or menstrual cycle fluctuations that are not typical or do not reflect average results.
If you have allergies or sensitivities to any foods, ingredients, or products, do not adopt those suggestions in this plan. Please skip the step or find safe alternatives that are suitable for you.
Let’s continue with Day 6. Estrogen is now more dominant. I’m watching out for subtle increases in oil production.
Day 6 – Build & Brighten
Cycle Phase: Follicular Phase (Day 6)
Morning Note: My skin is often at its most balanced during this window, so it's a great time for deep treatments or working toward tone correction. As testosterone gently increases, I know sebum production may pick up, so cleansing and balance stay key.
Morning Skincare Routine: Energize + Balance
Cleanser: Used a brightening cleanser with fruit enzymes and light exfoliants, and a cleansing serum. (I used: Peter Thomas Roth Anti-Aging Cleansing Gel, Shani Darden Cleansing Serum)
Toner: Used a refreshing, hydrating essence. (I used: Peach and Lily Wild Dew Treatment Essence)
Serum: Used a vitamin C alternative serum targeting dullness and pigmentation. (I used: Caudalie Vinoperfect Brightening Dark Spot Serum Vitamin C Alternative)
Moisturizer: Used an oil-free moisturizer with hydration and antioxidants. (I used: Shani Darden Weightless Oil-Free Moisturizer)
SPF: Applied a mineral SPF. (I used: Innisfree Daily UV Mineral Sunscreen SPF 45)
Skin Insight: My skin loves this vitamin C alternative.
Evening Skincare Routine: Target + Treat
Cleanser: Double cleansed with a double cleansing oil since I wore makeup today and want to control oil production. (I used: Babor HY-OL Cleanser & Phyto HY-OL Booster Hydrating Set)
Toner: Used a balancing treatment essence. (I used: Shani Darden Sake Essence Toner)
Serum: Used a hydrating serum to maintain moisture balance. (I used: Shani Darden Moisture Boost Plumping Serum)
Moisturizer: Used a skin-repairing night cream with peptides. (I used: Shani Darden Hydration Peptide Cream)
Self-Care Notes: Almost applied an overnight mask to target dark spots and texture but went with Peptide Cream..
Nutrition for Hormone Support + Pregnancy Readiness
Focus: Feed metabolism, promote gut health, and build estrogen safely.
Key Nutrients: Phytoestrogens, magnesium, fiber, sulfur-rich foods, and clean protein.
Meal Suggestions:
Breakfast: Scrambled pasture-raised eggs with kale and red onion on sourdough.
Lunch: Quinoa salad with chickpeas, cherry tomatoes, and olive oil vinaigrette.
Snack: Hummus with cucumber slices or homemade trail mix with seeds and goji berries.
Dinner: Grilled salmon with sweet potato mash and sautéed Brussels sprouts.
Hydration: High quality intake → Herbal teas like tulsi or peppermint; lemon-cucumber water.
Make It Make Sense: I add cruciferous veggies like broccoli and cabbage today because they help my liver process excess estrogen, which is especially useful at this point in my cycle.
Movement & Activity
Energy Level: Higher endurance and coordination.
Ideal Activities:
Dance cardio or HIIT
Strength training with weights
Hiking or outdoor adventures
Today's Practice: HIIT + 20 minutes of unfiltered sunlight on my skin to build vitamin D stores and boost dopamine naturally.
Sleep & Recovery
Bedtime Wind-down:
Included a digital detox or reading ritual before bed
Practiced belly breathing or vagus nerve exercises
Journaled about wins, clarity, and intentions
Goal: With my energy climbing, I'm sticking to a consistent bedtime to avoid overstimulation or mental overdrive at night.
